Young Tradition Festival: Community Potluck & Dance Party

Cultural research nonprofit Vermont Folklife hosts an immersive weekend of multigenerational, multicultural engagement at the Young Tradition Festival. Friday night revelry includes a back-to-back community potluck and dance party at Burlington City Hall Auditorium, where participants experience the vibrant and diverse traditions of countries from Nepal to Burundi. Saturday morning shines a light on youth artists performing alongside their mentors and teachers, replete with the exotic sounds of Tibetan dranyen, jazz ukulele and Scottish harp. In the evening, guests return to the auditorium for a joyous closing concert featuring the Young Tradition Touring Group’s 20 talented teen musicians sharing the stage with lauded folk band the Pine Tree Flyers.

These community event listings are sponsored by the WaterWheel Foundation, a project of the Vermont band Phish.
