WW Presents: Lower Dens, Paper Castles, Sunatirene

On their forthcoming album, Escape From Evil, Baltimore’s Lower Dens refine and expand the jagged, guitar-centric textures of their two previous records. The album’s lead single, “To Die in LA,” is warm and cinematic, but laced with a gloomy undercurrent of melancholia — much like Los Angeles itself, really. But amid that smoggy uncertainty, a buoyant sense of hope and optimism emerges, given life in the dusky, sweet tones of lead singer Jana Hunter. Touring in advance of their new album, Lower Dens play the Monkey House in Winooski on Saturday, March 21, with Sunatirene and locals Paper Castles.
