Charlie Parr seems a man out of time. The Minnesota-based songwriter was weaned on his father’s record collection and the scratchy works of American icons such as Lightnin’ Hopkins, Leadbelly and Woody Guthrie. And as his 2013 recording Barnswallow reveals, along with his previous 10 records, the ghosts of America’s dusty musical past live on in Parr’s take on American roots music. Parr plays the Monkey House in Winooski this Friday, October 3.
