After years of performing under the moniker the Mynabirds, Laura Burhenn recently released her first tracks with her own name. She had used a pseudonym, Burhenn said, because it was easier to hear people say, “I hate the Mynabirds,” than “I hate Laura.” In 2013, she was the touring keyboardist for the Postal Service during that band’s hotly anticipated revival tour. While Burhenn’s work as the Mynabirds was known for its retro-pop and electro tendencies, her new work leans toward folk and chamber-pop. Burhenn performs on Wednesday, November 30, at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington, supporting William Fitzsimmons.
