In celebration of Thomas Waterman Wood's gift of artwork to Montpelier, four venues around the city are hosting exhibitions this fall. In the namesake gallery are: "Thomas Waterman Wood and the Landscape," paintings by Wood and some of his contemporaries, including Asher B. Durand, J.G. Brown and Edward Gay (Nuquist Gallery); "Realism and Narrative: The Paintings of Thomas Waterman Wood," portraits, genre paintings and copies of great masters (Wood Room); and "Social Realism to Abstraction: Paintings of the WPA Collection," 90 works of art that were created during the New Deal and are on permanent loan from the federal government. The gallery is open by appointment. For private tours on November 14 or December 12 with curator Phillip Robertson, RSVP to twwoodgallery.org/visit-the-wood.html.
