The Ballroom Thieves with the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, the DuPont Brothers

Boston’s the Ballroom Thieves got their start in a college dorm room in 2010 with nothing more than a djembe, an acoustic guitar and three voices. That minimalist approach has been at the core of their music even as it’s grown more complex and sophisticated. For example, presently the trio is touring backed by the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, a 25-member string ensemble composed of students age 12 to 18. Even amid that symphonious sound, the Thieves retain the humble intimacy that has made them one of New England’s finest folk-rock bands.
