Join us for an evening of North Indian classical music, immersive listening and art. This event features Pat Lambdin on the sarod, a 25-string Indian lute. Pat is a dedicated disciple of sitar artist Pandit Shivnath Mishra and travels regularly to India for ongoing musical training.
Julie MacAdam will open the evening with a guided meditation to support the body and mind in receiving the gifts of this music. Drawing on her work as a somatic therapist and educator, Julie will offer a gentle framework for listening that invites presence and embodied awareness.
Local artists Nora Rhodes and Audrey Loucks will also be joining us, sharing their creative gifts alongside the unfolding of an intimate improvisational performance.
A raga - often translated as "that which colors the mind" - is a melodic framework used in North Indian classical music. Each raga carries it's own unique fragrance, feeling and mood and it's rendering can never be repeated in the same way twice.
