When the West African band Tal National dropped its third album and first international release, Kaani, in 2013, National Public Radio’s Banning Eyre raved, “The first thing that hits you when you listen to Tal National is the band’s tightness and energy.” Their onstage exuberance and representation of various ethnic groups have made them one of the most popular acts in their home country of Niger. Thanks to GlobaLocal Presents, a new project focused on bringing world-class music to rural Vermont, this vibrant rock-and-roll band hits up the Little Theater in Woodstock with danceable tunes from their 2018 album, Tantabara.
