In its 106th season, the Middlebury Performing Arts Series welcomes string sensations Takács Quartet to Robison Concert Hall — a familiar sight, as they’ve graced the college’s stage a whopping 31 times since 1994. Originally formed in 1975 by students at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, the Grammy- and Gramophone Award-winning ensemble still boasts one founding member: cellist András Fejér. This year, the group stuns with a program of awe-inspiring works, including the Vermont premiere of contemporary Brazilian American composer Clarice Assad’s “NEXUS,” which was co-commissioned by the college, as well as luminous quartets by Joseph Haydn and Claude Debussy.
