SAXOPHONE COLOSSUS a film by Robert Mugge, Followed by Q + A/book signing with Director Bob Mugge and William L. Ellis, Professor of Fine Arts at St. Michael’s College. Copies of Bob Mugge's new book QUOTES FROM THE ROAD: THE WIT AND WISDOM OF AMERICAN MUSICIANS will be available for sale after the screening, with a book signing by Bob Mugge. Since 1976, Robert Mugge has produced more than three dozen documentaries about various aspects of American culture, with particular emphasis on traditional forms of American music—“Sun Ra: A Joyful Noise,” “Gospel According to Al Green” and “Deep Blues and New Orleans Music in Exile.” Filmed in Tokyo, Japan (primarily at Tokyo Koseinenkin Hall ); in Saugerties, New York (primarity at Opus 40) and in New York City in 1986. 101 minutes long.
