The Henry Sheldon Museum presents a Zoom lecture by historian Michelle Smiley, the fourth talk in the “Elephant in the Room: Exploring the Future of Museums” series. Smiley discusses American daguerreotype portraiture, its uses as scientific instrument, a means of picturing loved ones, and as a medium of democratic participation.
