New World Festival

Twenty-five years ago, the New World Festival commenced as a celebration of the cultural connections that New England, Québec and Canada’s Maritimes share with Ireland, Scotland and France. The singing, playing and stepping tradition continues this week with more than 50 regional and international musicians paying homage to their heritage on six stages. A sampling of noteworthy acts includes Vermont roots trio Pete’s Posse, traditional Québécois ensemble De Temps Antan, Celtic quartet Còig and headlining fiddler Liz Carroll (pictured). Food and drink, dances, informal jam sessions, and workshops presented in partnership with the Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture round out the merriment.
