'My Life as a Zucchini'

In the tradition of Oliver Twist and James and the Giant Peach, the 2016 film My Life as a Zucchini follows an orphaned boy searching for his place in the world. Stop-motion animation and big-eyed characters tell the story of a youngster who learns about love and trust in a foster home. With a PG-13 rating, director Claude Barras’ Academy Award-nominated tale is as much for adults as for kids, touching on topics of abuse, addiction and death. Warning: If the movie’s trailer is any indication, this French-language film shown with English subtitles is bound to be a tearjerker.
