Books are magical and childhood is fantastical in Matilda the Musical Jr., the Rutland Youth Theatre’s newest production. Adapted from the beloved Roald Dahl novel and modified for younger thespians and audiences, the inspiring musical follows a young girl who — despite mistreatment from her family and Miss Trunchbull, the terrifying school headmistress — discovers that she has psychic powers and can stand strong even when the world tries to beat her down.
