Vermont classical music lovers may be familiar with British pianist Paul Lewis, who has become a Middlebury College Performing Arts Series audience favorite over the years. For the first concert of 2019, the award-winning instrumentalist shares the stage with compatriot tenor Mark Padmore. The pair presents a recital of German lieder, songs written for piano and voice that typically reflect the mood of a poem. Described by the New York Times as an art song “dream team,” Padmore and Lewis breathe life into works by Johannes Brahms, Gustav Mahler and Robert Schumann.
