Nora D. Volkow, MD, is Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at NIH, the world’s largest funder of research on drug use and addiction. A pioneer in brain imaging, Dr. Volkow’s work revealed addiction as a brain disorder, showing how dopamine system changes impair reward and self-control. Her research also advanced understanding of obesity, ADHD, and aging. Author of nearly 1,000 publications, she is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and recipient of numerous international awards. Presented as part of the Osher Center for Integrative Health's 2026 Laura Mann Integrative Healthcare Lecture Series.
