Laura Mae Socks

Fall to Pieces

Whether playing well-chosen covers or her own heart-wrenching material, Laura Mae Socks displays a keen appreciation for the classic country roots of her native rural Louisiana. Blessed with a hauntingly expressive voice and backed by a crack band called the Baked Goods, Socks trades in a timeless sort of twang that could belong on a crackling AM station in the 1950s as much as the modern era. Socks and her band play two Montpelier shows this week: Thursday, August 6, at Charlie-O’s World Famous; and Sunday, August 9, at the Skinny Pancake.
