Break out the popcorn! For the third year, cinephiles hit up the Lake Champlain International Film Festival for five days of motion pictures from Kazakhstan, Nepal, Spain, Iran, Canada, the United States and more. This time around, the fest shines a spotlight on women in film and issues of drug abuse, kicking off with Courtney Hunt’s award-winning 2008 North Country crime drama Frozen River (pictured). Works of comedy, drama, horror and documentary, panel discussions, and the chance to meet visiting filmmakers make this cinematic celebration worth a trip across the lake.
