During a recent appearance on standup showcase “Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents,” actor-comedian Joel Kim Booster told the audience he knew he was gay before he knew he was Asian. This was because he grew up in an all-white adoptive family in an even whiter town in the American South. Sharp as hell with biting wit to spare, the comic is also a writer and producer on Comedy Central’s 2019 sitcom “The Other Two” and recently appeared as a high-strung photographer in Hulu’s dramatic comedy “Shrill.” Booster performs Thursday through Saturday, May 16 through 18, at the Vermont Comedy Club in Burlington.
