Imani Winds

The members of woodwind quintet Imani Winds select their works with clear intention. Aiming to bring new music and expression to the modern classical idiom, they bridge American, European, African and Latin American traditions. Since its formation in 1997, the group has made its mark through commissioning numerous new works and performing pieces by diverse composers — think Paquito D’Rivera, Astor Piazzolla, Wayne Shorter and Igor Stravinsky. The Grammy Award-nominated ensemble, which includes two member composers, hits all the right notes in a concert at Middlebury College, presented as part of the Nelson Chamber Music Series.
