Haley Heynderickx’s stage presence is charming, disarming and slightly alarming. When playing solo, the Portland, Ore., folk artist banters with a band that only she can see. She introduces her songs without pretense or pretentiousness. For instance, when she says “This is a song about bugs,” referring to her popular tune, “The Bug Collector,” she means it. Her conversational style eases listeners into her inner world, which buzzes and whirs with honest impulses and sweet remembrances.
