Recently the subject of a lengthy profile on indie music website Stereogum, three-piece Flasher of Washington, D.C., are set to become one of the breakout bands of 2018. Their forthcoming album, Constant Image, makes an even stronger artistic statement than did their scrappy, self-titled 2016 debut. Largely about the catch-22 of participating in capitalism while also seeking to destabilize it, the new record’s focus on artistry over messaging softens any overt political statements. Off-kilter fuzz-pop guitars and tightly threaded vocal harmonies offset the anxiety and insecurity heard in the band’s lyrics. Catch Flasher on Monday, June 11, at the Monkey House in Winooski.
