'Driver, Lender (or, a Fictionalized Biographical Prelude to Adam Driver’s Brief Stint as Shylock on Broadway)'

In this GIDA / HaSTE production Adam Driver, famous non-Jewish actor of stage and screen, has been cast as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice on Broadway. Tracing through Driver’s life from his time in the Marines to his acting education at The Juilliard School, Driver, Lender explores all sides of the debate about whether an actor can truthfully and tastefully perform a role in an identity that is not their own. This satirical play blurs fiction and biography to delve deeply into a controversial but potent question in the artistic world.
