Della Mae, Darlingside

It is revealing that Della Mae’s new record — their third overall and second for Rounder Records — is self-titled. Though it finds the Grammy-nominated Americana group expanding on its roots-oriented sound and exploring new sonic terrain, the album is quintessential Della Mae. Says front woman and Vermont native Celia Woodsmith (ex-Avi & Celia), “In some ways, this album’s very different from what we’ve done previously, but it’s self-titled because we feel like it sounds as much like us as anything we’ve ever done.” Touring in support of that record, Della Mae play the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington on Monday, June 1, with indie-folk outfit Darlingside.
