Coping Skills, Gestalt, CFCQ + the Piss of Assurance
When: Wed., May 9, 8:30 p.m. 2018
“It’s not that difficult to be a decent person,” sing Coping Skills’ Rachel Dispenza and Lauren DeLucca in overlapping phrases on their track “Soft Chokey.” Unflinchingly, the Philadelphia indie-rock duo’s modus operandi is unambiguous, point-blank honesty. Describing its music as “moderately gay, post-ironic bummer pop,” the pair evokes the anguish of lovesick woes in sweet and salty rock jams. With empathetic lyrics and jagged, garage-pop aesthetics, the two emphatically analyze modern romance and the confusion that comes with young adulthood. Check out Coping Skills on Wednesday, May 9, at the Monkey House in Winooski. CFCQ + the Piss of Assurance and locals Gestalt add support.
