Italian musician and composer Claudio Simonetti might not be a household name in the States, but the myriad horror films he’s scored since the 1970s sure are. With cult classics such as Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead and Tenebrae under his belt, the prog-rock keyboardist has set the tone — literally — for the genre’s quintessentially eerie soundscapes. Local listeners get the rare opportunity to hear one of Simonetti’s iconic scores live at the Stone Church in Brattleboro, where his band Goblin take the stage to accompany Dario Argento’s 1975 slasher flick Deep Red in celebration of its 50th anniversary. Spook-o-meter reading: off the charts.
