Instrumental post-rock outfit City of the Sun say a lot without uttering a word. Sweeping and dramatic, the New York City trio’s music moves in waves, often reaching a dramatic apex. Compositional intensity and raw feeling drive the group through experimental sonic landscapes. Free of stylistic restrictions, the band explores the vast expanse of rock, folk and jazz traditions without ever sounding quite like any of the above — perhaps a product of the flamenco guitar that’s often prominently featured.
