We frequently use visual language to talk about music. We say a song “sparkles” or “glows,” or it’s “dark” or “sunny.” That’s probably because as soon as a song starts playing, we envision a cavalcade of associations. Take Brooke Annibale’s 2018 record, Hold to the Light, for example. A vibrant sheen of electronic production coats a verdant acoustic foundation throughout the Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter’s 11 new tracks. The tunes are bound to conjure majestic, naturalistic imagery, such as that last bit of orange-purple that lingers on the horizon at sunset. Annibale opens for Chadwick Stokes & the Pintos on Monday, January 14, at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington.
