Black Kids, Surf Rock Is Dead

In the mid- to late 2000s, music blogs were becoming the go-to platform for burgeoning indie artists. Floridian indie rockers Black Kids surfed the momentous wave of click-driven song discovery to great heights. But a whirlwind of touring — not to mention tastemaker music website Pitchfork’s infamous, less-than-glowing review of their first LP, Partie Traumatic — likely led to the band’s indefinite hiatus. Now back with a brand-new album, the group transcends new-wave and early indie-rock sounds on its giddy new album, Rookie. Catch Black Kids on Saturday, October 28, at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington. Surf Rock Is Dead open.
