As snowmelt gives way to new growth, we’ll visit vernal pools alive with amphibian activity and look closely at spring ephemeral wildflowers that bloom before the tree canopy fills in.
Along the way, we’ll discuss why vernal pools are essential habitat, how ephemeral flowers are adapted to this short season of light, and what these and other natural features tell us about forest health. We’ll also touch on how the town and volunteers steward this community-owned forest, balancing conservation and recreation to care for this shared landscape.
