In 2015, indie-pop darling Avi Buffalo announced his project’s demise after two well-received albums. He cited the pitfalls of touring and the toll taken on his mental health and well-being. About a year later, the singer-songwriter clarified that his band’s highly publicized “breakup” was actually part of a plan to distance himself from his management and gain some agency over his output. He also noted that new demos were stacking up like “very complex organic banana pancakes.” He’s yet to release a follow-up to 2014’s At Best Cuckold, but all signs point to an exciting — or at least yummy — era of new music. Buffalo performs on Sunday, November 26, at the Monkey House in Winooski. Locals Paper Castles open.
