Déjà Vu
Allison Crutchfield’s debut solo album, Tourist in This Town, is one of the strongest releases of the young year. The singer-songwriter and guitarist started out alongside her twin sister, Katie, in the pop-punk outfits P.S. Eliot and Bad Banana. While Katie moved on to pioneer the critically acclaimed, ’90s-indie-rock-flavored Waxahatchee, Allison’s debut zeros in on a synth-heavy style replete with Americana and punk overtones. Think more urban-sounding Angel Olsen or a super-caffeinated, garage-rock incarnation of Beach House.
