At Barre Opera House, an intergenerational cast featuring rising stars from Acorn Youth Arts channels the grungy spirit of the ’90s in the Tony- and Grammy Award-winning Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill: The Musical. Inspired by the artist’s seminal album of the same name, the contemporary family drama pulls back the curtain on the Healys — an outwardly “perfect” household — to reveal hidden traumas, addiction, and mental health and identity issues. The lyrics of humanist hits such as “Ironic,” “Hand in My Pocket” and “Head Over Feet” propel the characters as they confront their struggles head-on and, ultimately, find healing in the process.
