Vermont’s rivers have long shaped where and how communities grew, but recent storms have made clear just how vulnerable those same waterways can leave us today. Join us for an engaging Vermont Humanities Speakers Bureau talk, “River Memories: Exploring Settlement Patterns on Waterways in Vermont,” with historian Alan Berolzheimer on Thursday, April 23, from 5:30–6:30 PM. Alan will explore how historic settlement patterns along rivers in Vermont have influenced the flood risks our communities face today with a focus on local waterways including the Otter Creek.
