Adam Wakefield is the embodiment of a country singer. With his silky tresses tucked under a trucker cap, scraggly facial hair and shiny acoustic guitar slung across his chest, the dude just looks the part. But his music goes way beyond the twang. His self-titled debut EP is a soulful exploration of gospel-tinged southern rock and roll. Wakefield was the runner-up on Season 10 of NBC’s “The Voice” and currently fronts the bluegrass band the Copperheads. Catch Wakefield on Saturday, September 2, at the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge in South Burlington. Joe McGinness opens.
